The inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Price Index for Uganda for the 12 months to December 2021 increased to 2.9 percent, up from 2.6 percent in November 2021.
According to a report by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the increase in inflation figures was mainly driven by the increases in the prices of commodities under; Food and non alcoholic beverages, transport, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco.
Chicken, fresh beans, whole grain maize are some of the commodities that recorded high prices during the period as indicated in the table below.
