FITSPA Gets Grant To Support Financial Inclusion

Financial Technology Service Providers Association (FITSPA) has received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support financial inclusion initiatives.

In a statement, FITSPA noted that they will launch a new initiative to build capacity in Uganda’s Fintech Sector and create a conducive environment to stimulate innovation in the financial services sector.

Peter Kawumi, FITSPA Board Chairman, announced the initiative at the 5th FITSPA Annual General Meeting recently, saying that the association is ready to work with partners to grow the industry.

“We have structured programs around the needs of the industry to fast track its growth and this partnership is timely,” Kawumi reiterated.

Zianah Muddu FITSPA Engagement Partner said “We anticipate increased usage of digital financial solutions and services and the goal of the grant is to build capacity within the fintech community to ensure the continued delivery of relevant and scalable solutions.”

The initiative will enable the association to make comprehensive assessment of the fintech eco-system by gathering data to inform policy makers, donors, and all other stakeholders to foster accurate engagement and continuity.

The grant will also focus on the development of mentorship programs to support women focused digital financial solutions through creating linkages for women led Fintechs, to meet key partners to scale out their solutions.
